Morris South East Group was very excited to hear today that thanks to a recent move by the U.S Customs and Border Protection, folks in the Fort Myers area will now be able to fly directly to Cuba through Southwest Florida International, according to a recent article in the Ft. Myers News Press.

The article notes that this move makes the airport one of only 15 nationwide able to handle such flights but that there isnbt an airline designated to handle the routes just yet. Until then, Airport Director Bob Ball says, Charter planes will be the likely mode of transportation to the tropical destination and even then, direct traffic to Cuba will still remain highly restricted.

The Southwest Florida Airport serves the greater Southwest Florida area, including Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral, Sanibel, Captiva, Lehigh Acres,B Greater Naples, Marco Island and the everglades, Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf Islands as well as other points along Southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast.
