Students are the work force of the future. In the Miami-Dade Public Schools system, they have an Honors Executive Internship Program which pairs hundreds of bright high school students with local businesses for internships that result in a grade and extra credit. One student involved is 16 year old Leonardo who wants to eventually study neuroscience and work to find a way to prevent Alzheimerb s disease. He has been working with the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine over the summer.
Interns provide businesses with fresh, young ideas while preparing the workforce of the future with the opportunity to receive hands-on-experience in what they want to do for the rest of their lives before they start college. We think this is an example of how local businesses can make a positive impact in their communities. If you want to learn more about this program, contact Caridad DePaola at (305) 995-7087.
