Webve been saying for a while now that commercial real estate recovery depends in large part on job creation and lowering the unemployment rate. Well, Jeff Immelt and Ken Chenault, two members of the President’s Jobs and Competitiveness Council, wrote an interesting article for The Wall Street Journal earlier this week on bHow Webre Meeting the Job Creation Challenge.b

They outline five suggestions for aiding job creation in the short term, including:

  1. Training workers for what real-life jobs need employees to be able to do.
  2. Making the permitting process more efficient to boost construction and infrastructure projects.
  3. Increasing travel and tourism to the U.S.
  4. Helping small businesses get loans.
  5. Having construction workers tackle energy efficiency in commercial buildings.

The council will also be working on developing longer-term strategies to really boost job creation in the U.S. Read the Wall Street Journal article to learn more about the five points above and the councilbs plans moving forward.
